Argentina: Master of Laws in International Crime and Justice

Programme Overview

In January 2016 the Universidad Argentina John F. Kennedy of Buenos Aires in cooperation with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) will launch the first edition of the Maestria en Derecho Penal y Justicia Internacional (Master of Laws in International Crime and Justice).

The programme represents a unique opportunity for students and young professionals who are interested in acquiring a legal specialization in International Criminal Law.

Programme Content

Through a combination of academic lectures and practical exercises the Maestria en Derecho Penal y Justicia Internacional will provide an in depth analysis of the following subjects of study:

• International Criminal Law
• International Humanitarian Law
• International Criminal Jurisdictions
• Trans-national Organized Crime and Trans-national Crimes (in particular Drug Trafficking, Trafficking in Persons, Corruption and Terrorism)
• International Cooperation on Criminal Matters
• Financial Frauds
• International Arbitration
• Weapons of Mass Destruction

The Master is specifically designed for:

• University Graduates in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Criminology, or equivalent academic subjects;
• Young professionals working in governmental institutions, international organizations and NGOs seeking to specialize in international criminal justice.

The fee amounts to 140,000 Argentinean Pesos.

The cost of the tuition fee includes learning material and any other registration expense. Travel and living costs are to be totally borne by the student.

How to apply

The following documentation must be submitted in paper copy by 16 October 2015 to the following address: Bartolomé Mitre 2152 (C1039AAH CABA, Argentina).

• Photocopy of the first page of the National Identity Card (Documento Nacional de Identidad). Non - Argentinian applicants are required to submit three copies of their passport page containing personal information.
• Two 4x4 personal pictures
• Curriculum Vitae
• Motivation letter: a letter no longer than 400 words, explaining the reasons for wanting to attend the course
• Two recommendation letters
• Photocopies of all degrees or diplomas obtained already obtained, with a translation of those degrees or diplomas which are not in Spanish
• Legalized copies of the diploma required to enter to the LL.M. (if already available); Legalized copies of transcripts of grades and/or study plan
